"Kedar is an exceptional coach who has totally transformed the way I play tennis. Apart from his strong playing ability (expected from a former ATP ranked player), he has a solid technical background, a keen eye for detail, but most importantly, he is able to teach well and caters his method of instruction to the needs and ability of each player.
I started taking coaching lessons from Kedar in Feb 2019. At the time, I had already been playing tennis for 10 years on a consistent basis and had decent strokes (or so I thought). However, with his help, I was able to significantly improve every single one of my shots - the big difference with Kedar is, I was able to improve each area in a relatively short period of time. One example to illustrate this: my forehand has always been my stronger shot but I had a habit of “slapping” the ball. Whilst this gives a lot of effortless power, it can be inconsistent especially when under pressure. One day, Kedar made a comment that I really ought to re-work my forehand to incorporate more topspin. Upon hearing that feedback, I was very hesitant. He was asking me to sort of reinvent my only strong shot and I felt it was risky to do so. But yet I knew he was right, and I trusted his judgement, experience and ability to instruct, and so I decided to take the plunge.
We went right back to basics to reinvent my forehand. Many sessions following that were spent on the half court honing the new forehand to generate spin and feel (making me feel like a true beginner all over again…). The next few months were difficult as I was in-between the old and new forehand; match play was a mess. However, despite all this, I knew I was on the right track and repelled any feelings of discouragement. By the end of the 3rd month, the dividends started to pay off. One year on, I have a new forehand which is far more effective and consistent than the old one, even under pressure. This new forehand is a testament to Kedar’s technical knowledge and ability to teach and instruct using the right methods and drills. We also spend time discussing the tactical aspects of playing singles and doubles. This portion has been a real eye opener for me. Our discussions range from the patterns of play that one can/should use, to the right/wrong shot selection. Whenever we work on improving particular stroke or serve or adding more variety to my shots, he makes it a point to teach me how to incorporate it tactically in match play. "- T Ong
